Maria Maher

Dr. Maria Maher is a Director with AlixPartners Financial Advisory Services based in London.  She has over twenty years experience as an economist specialising in competition and regulatory matters in the telecoms sector.  Maria has provided expert reports and litigation support in relation to competition law cases and regulatory inquiries, and has particular expertise in the area of abuse of dominance and behavioural remedies.  Her experience covers a wide range of areas and includes damages cases, mobile call termination, network access, network effects, spectrum auctions, convergence and bundling, and the competitive effects of agreements between firms.  Prior to joining AlixPartners, Maria worked at NERA Economic Consultancy, based in Washington DC, where she specialised in auction strategy, having previously been a senior member of NERA’s London Competition Policy Practice.  She previously worked at the OECD in Paris and held academic positions at Birkbeck College and the University of Cambridge.  Maria holds a PhD in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and an MA in economics and BA in economics and mathematics (dual major with distinction) from Boston University. She holds dual British and American nationality and is fluent in English, French, and Italian.
