Head of Unit – DG Competition, European Commission
Eduardo Martínez Rivero was born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1965. He is at present Head of unit in the Antitrust Telecoms unit in the Competition Directorate-General of the European Commission. Eduardo was trained as a lawyer at the Universidad de Oviedo, where he graduated with honours in 1988. He then followed European law studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. After working as a lawyer specialising in Community law in Brussels, Eduardo joined the European civil service in 1991. Since then, he has been active in many sectors, including electronic communications, financial services, transport and basic industries.
